Youth’s Social and Economic Development is the top priority of PTI: Usman Dar

Islamabad, 16 January 2020:  Special Advisor to PM for Youth Affairs Usman Dar told that economic and social progress of youth is the first priority of Youth. To empower youth, loans of Rs 10 billion has been given to them. He said that, Pakistan has second largest youth population in the region and fifth highest population in the world  

He told, “Process of receiving applications under Hunarmand Pakistan Programme is underway to make youth skillful.”

Several youth empowerment programs such as Internship programs, Green Youth movement, and some other programs are currently under planning and they will launch soon. To facilitate youth, PM Imran Khan has allocated Rs 100 billion for youth under Kamyab Programme and more than 1 million applications has been received to get the loan under Kamyab Jawan Programme. He viewed that this program will play promiment role in youth’s social and economic development and their social security.  Security is in under process on the basis of merit, transparency and de-politicization. Besides, they are also working with other provinces to empower youth.  

He praises Norway, Japan, UNDP and UNICEF on facilitating monetary and technical support to youth. UNDP is playing a wonderful role in uplifting youth in KP and Sindh. He said “We are paying special attention towards job opportunities for youth created through small and medium Grade businesses. The purpose of providing loans to youth is to make them empower.”

Emphasizing youth to have a business model to acquire loan, Dar said “This is not a grant or financial assistance but loans are being provided to youth for business. Second-phase of provision of loans under Kamyab Jawan Programme will be started soon.”

He said government has also initiated another youth program ‘Hunar Sab k Liay, Hunarmand Pakistan Programme’ to skilled the youth and Rs 30 billion has been allocated for the technical education of youth along theoretical education. Programs like like Kalado computing and artificial intelligence will be initiated to enable the youth to deal with 21st century challenges.

He also said “Kamyab Jawan’ Start up programmes will also be started soon. Under this programme, innovation league competition will be organized. He said government has paid attention towards education, employment and social partnership. “In the first phase, green youth movement will be started in 9 universities for which we are working along with HEC.”

He said that Kamyab Jawan Sehatmand Programme will also be initiated with the support of health department under which 10, 00,000 nurses will trained in various hospitals. Opportunities will also give to minorities under this program. He told that government has formed a national skill strategy task force under which several measures has been taken to empower youth
