ISLAMABAD: The team of SDGs Youth Squad for Progressive Pakistan does not seem to rest. They have officially started arranging seminars in Universities and the first lucky one was COMSATS University, Islamabad. The Executive Director of SDGs YSPP Mr. Chaudhry Sarmad Shahbaz Bhutta, the Director of Publications and Content Mr. Usman Aslam, along with SDGs YSPP advocate Dua Gilani was invited to enlighten the students of COMSATS about the sustainable development goals and the Youth Squad for Progressive Pakistan. IDEA society from COMSATS took the opportunity among themselves to host the seminar which would in turn help tons of students embark on their journey of making a change and doing the world a favor. Ms. Gul-e-Laiba was the lead for this project and successfully organized this seminar on March 13, 2019. This engaging seminar allowed the students to take upon themselves the responsibility they all share but may not have been aware of, they were asked to brainstorm and come up with just one, if not a few, policy recommendations that they deem rational and practical. Needless to say, the Team of YSPP was victorious in their aim for the seminar. The audience beamed with enthusiasm as the Executive Director of YSPP Mr. Sarmad Shahbaz engaged with them on the topic of Sustainable Development Goals and Youth’s role in achieving them by 2030. He also gave insight about Peace & Justice Network, Pakistan and appreciated its efforts and struggles for youth. The Director of Publications and content Mr. Usman Aslam talked about YSPP DISCOVER Digital Library is a platform for all thinkers, environmentalist, technologists and motivated students from any field to publish their research, articles, blog, thesis or essays and have them make a name for themselves.

The audience was asked to participate, write about topics relating the Sustainable development goals and email it to the official website. Ms. Dua Gilani, a SDGs advocate, helped the students understand how they could play their respective roles in the achievement of the goals and be a part of YSPP. The sheer spirit of voluntarism from the audience made the session much more alluring. She walked the audience through some of the milestones that were touched by SDGs Youth Squad for Progressive Pakistan in the little time since they’ve started their work as a team. At the end of the session, Assistant Professor Ms. Shakeela Ibrahim from the Humanities Department applauded and complimented the team on their efforts. The head of Ideas society was truly moved and showed great appreciation to the speakers. This was only a start for the Team of Youth Squad for Progressive Pakistan attending and giving seminars for the sole purpose of awareness about the SDGs and YSPP.
