World Post Day Celebrated at ECO Postal Staff College Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A celebratory ceremony for the 146th anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) was held here at ECO Postal Staff College Islamabad today to further strengthen the mission and goals of the UPU. For the very first time in the history, the celebrations for World Post Day are held virtually all around the globe. The purpose of World Post Day is to bring awareness to the Post’s role in the everyday lives of people and businesses, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development. The theme for this year was “More than Mail”. 

On the occasion, Capt (R) Khalid Zaman, Director ECO Postal Staff College Islamabad read out the message by Director General of the UPU Bishar A. Hussein. Addressing the officers and staff, the director said Pakistan Post was totally committed to the goals and aspirations of the UPU and tried its utmost to reach out to general masses while providing for more than mail.

He said the efforts of Pakistan Post for service delivery during COVID-19 global pandemic were highly respected at the UPU forum. Based upon its size, population and human resources, Pakistan Post is ranked in leading countries of the world. He also urged the postal workers to work with full dedication and devotion to further improve the postal services across the country in a competitive environment.

The ceremony was closed after prayers for development of the Post and Pakistan followed by the simple UPU-flag hoisting ceremony.
