Women’s Empowerment: A Path to a Better Pakistan

By: Muhammad Owais Fayaz

Societies’ inability to embrace individual empowerment is the root cause of violence. Being in charge of one’s own life decisions is essential for happiness. Countries can achieve their goals by strengthening their citizens. Women have a right to live their lives in dignity and to all of their fundamental rights. Many social, political, cultural, and religious barriers prevent women from acquiring the empowerment tool, which is why the idea of women’s empowerment is still a fantasy in some parts of the world. Over the course of many years, women’s rights have been violated. The current era paints a grim picture due to the prevalence of violations against women. Women’s empowerment is seen as an offensive idea in regressive societies, and there is a lot of collective resistance to it there.

Women’s strengthening is an entryway to the public turn of events and riches. It actuates the variables of social, political and monetary ascent. To realize the dream of a progressive society, women must be empowered. Countries, for example, Singapore and China have empowered their female populace to take a lead on the worldwide stage. Today, these nations represent success and glory to the entire world. Women can transform their lives and become active members of society and politics if they are given ample opportunities to do so. However, due to the prevalence of cruel tendencies and rigid mentalities in these societies’ social and political arenas, this idea has been met with opposition in many developing societies. Women’s empowerment never really takes off in a radical society. For these nations’ social, political, and economic landscapes, the consequences are terrifying.

Women’s strengthening implies giving women their financial, political and social freedoms. Women are better able to participate in the decision-making process when they are empowered politically. Women are able to lead happy lives thanks to economic freedom. Giving ladies strengthening in the social space includes giving them government managed retirement in their homes and at work so they feel solid. Unmatched progress is achieved by communities that allow women to become influential in these areas. Women gain power through education, but their strength is hampered by a low literacy rate. A woman can acquire the intellectual and moral fortitude to live her life without bowing to others through education. It indicates that education fosters independence. Due to a lack of educational opportunities, women’s empowerment has remained a distant goal in the developing world.

The living conditions in rural areas of developing nations are appalling, and many women are dependent on their male partners, who take away their independence. Limiting women’s access to education is a trap that prevents many women from realizing their potential as independent beings. Because decision-makers fail to educate women, we rarely see this idea of women’s empowerment in Pakistan’s social structure. Consequently, education gives women empowerment. Pakistan’s male-dominated society rarely allows women to participate in decision-making. The fact that women can participate in the decision-making process is essential to female empowerment. Women become victims of choices that are forced upon them if they are unable to choose the path of their destiny in accordance with their goals and ambitions.

Their chances of becoming empowered are reduced as a result. In many radical societies, women are forced to deal with such issues, and decisions are made without giving them any thought. Elevating ladies accompanies guaranteeing their monetary independence which is something actually unattainable in provincial areas of Pakistan. It prevents women from gaining independence. In order to provide women with financial independence, we ought to grant them the right to own property even after marriage. If women participate in politics, women’s empowerment gains momentum. The shortfall of ladies in legislative issues makes it harder for ladies to acquire the solidarity to become enabled.

Women’s rights have been hampered by gender inequality. Empowerment, a concept that is met with opposition in our social system, is based on gender equality. When it comes to achieving women’s empowerment, there have been obstacles. A change in the public eye’s demeanor is an outright unquestionable necessity to make ladies’ strengthening a reality. Education is a means of dispelling this myth in this circumstance. In order for women to rise to power, they need access to social security. In addition, considering empowerment without financial security is a stretch. Aside from this, the idea of women’s empowerment has been weakened by the inadequate implementation of numerous laws that are in place to advance the cause.

The concept of women’s empowerment can only be realized if there is a rule of law. Making work environments safer and alright for ladies will uphold their opportunity. We can empower women by providing victims of violence and abuse with prompt justice. Inequality between men and women is a major issue in Pakistan. Pakistan scores 145/156 on the Global Gender Gap Index Report 2022 for economic participation and opportunity, 135/156 for educational attainment, 143/156 for survival and health, and 95/156 for political empowerment. Pakistan ought to make it possible for women to play a role in the country’s socioeconomic development in order to foster a society that is more inclusive. Pakistan must provide women with real empowerment and protect them in order to promote social, political, and economic development.

Pakistan is not living up to expectations in terms of its socioeconomic conditions, and the country’s inability to empower women is hindering its growth. In this way, ladies’ strengthening is a hallucination in Pakistan and the country has been swimming through disturbed times as a result of its inadequacy to make ladies’ strengthening a reality. Without embracing the idea of women’s empowerment, no nation on earth can advance. Pakistan must safeguard females and empower them across all social strata. The future of this nation will remain stagnant unless serious violations of women’s rights are stopped. Certainly, social, political, and economic strength are built on women’s autonomy.
