We will certainly test you – COVID-19 and locust swarm attack

By: Faisal Ansar

When the day and time would come when we turn towards Allah Almighty Who is the only creator of this universe and its creatures. One of His creatures which can be seen with naked eyes had done the damage across the globe financially, socially and economically and it would not be wrong to articulate that the whole world has changed but the horrifying factor is that people still are not turning towards Allah Almighty to seek his mercy and hidden help rather relying and trusting on the news and views communicated to us through social, electronic and print media and doctors respectively but neither read The Holy Quran to understand it though recite it nor contemplate its meaning and annotation. Allah Almighty stated in His book of Quran that “2.155. We will certainly test you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and fruits (earnings); but give glad tidings to the persevering and patient: وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوفْ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الأَمَوَالِ وَالأنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ”. Are we waiting for more catastrophe to turn to Allah?.

The epidemic disease of corona virus has created immense fear in the hearts of the people that their every day passes in a fear that they might be infected and as a result could die from this pandemic thus taking utmost care to take protective and preventative measures conveyed to them through any source and rightly doing so but indispensable hype by the social and electronic media made it even worse that some of the people are now suffering from mental disorder and became psychiatric patients. The world so far has remained failed to invent its medicine even the vaccine could not be introduced. Now doctors are precisely saying what has been stated by our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH to stay safe from this epidemic disease of corona virus and connotation of sayings of beloved Prophet PBUH is that “where the plague is erupted the people of that area should neither go out nor other people should enter into that area” and doctors are now terming it quarantine which they consider is the only remedy of this pandemic so far until and unless its vaccine is introduced. This pandemic has certainly taken some precious lives and spread fear across the globe.

On the other hand, Pakistan is now facing another threat of locust swarm attach which has destroyed many fields while rest are in danger of the locust swarm attack. As the fields are destroyed possible dearth of commodities like vegetables and fruits might likely to occur and off course wealth would also be affected owing to destruction of the fields which is again a test of hunger and fruits which is stated in the Quran.

It is really a matter of grave concern over these two threats but no need to panic at all as human being is helpless if such situation arises. All the possible protective and preventative measures are highly recommended, suggested and should be taken to avert from these two threats but if even then human being fail to control the situation remaining cool and calm is imperative as what is stated in the Quran that glad tidings for those who remain persevering and patient.  Foregoing in view, the grisly situation in the world and in our country that further economic recession might take place in future which is again a fear that it could happen but besides this we should not forget that we might have been testing in such a situation but to ascertain whether it is a test or torment as bad situations came in the era of apostles also but what they did, they turned towards Allah Almighty to seek His mercy and hidden help and this is the ultimate answer in present scenario that if people turn towards Allah it is a test and if people do vice versa then it is certainly a torment. What we all have to do is to remain persevering and patient to seek mercy and hidden help from Almighty Allah.  Apart from this possible trial or torment we need to ponder over that why such horrible situation arose over us. The ultimate answer is our bad deeds which includes telling lies, weighing less and dishonestly, having grudges, disconnecting with relatives, system of injustice, teasing people unnecessarily, oppression and many other issues which we do not even consider them bad as we have become habitual of such bad deeds. All such situations arise to push us to revert to Allah Almighty so it is better that we turn to Allah before we return to Allah so that we get eternal peace in this world and eternal life hereinafter.
