Watch Out For These Pakistani Movies This Year

One thing we can all agree is that the Pakistani Film Industry has improved vastly and for the better. Although some of them are purely commercial movies, there have been movies with strong story-lines with originality and impressive acting.

Last year the cinema lovers were overwhelmed with movies like Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2, Teefa in Trouble, Parchi, Cake and Pinky Memsaab. This year we are all holding our expectations for the highly anticipated The Legend of Maula Jatt. The first look trailer release of the movie took the internet by storm and viewers were astonished at the advanced cinematography of the movie.

Here are 5 Pakistani movies to look out for this year.

1.            Durj

Based on real-life incidents that occurred in Pakistan, actor-director Shamoon Abbasi will take us through the world of cannibalism. Abbasi along with co-producer and actor Sherry Shah went through major physical transformations for their characters. The trailer release was well received from the audience however, a release date for the movie is not announced yet.

2.            Karachi Se Lahore 3

The third installment for the The Karachi Se Lahore movie franchise was announced to have an Eid-ul-Fitr release. The star cast is yet to be confirmed by the makers although it is rumoured that comedian Yasir Hussain, Shehzad Sheikh and Ayesha Omar will be back in this comedic journey.

3.            Paray Hut Love

The movie was recently in the news as Mahira Khan opted out from the movie and the role was given to Maya Ali. The cast includes Sheheryar Munawar, Maya Ali, Ahmed Ali Butt, Zara Noor Abbas, Nadeem Baig and Hina Dilpazeer. The story will revolve around four different types of Pakistani weddings. Who doesn’t love the wedding season? The release date is yet to be announced.

4.            The Legend of Maula Jatt

This movie needs no introduction as we are all keenly waiting for its Eid release. A remake of the 70s Punjabi movie Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan and Humaima Malick in the leading roles. The movie is said to be the highest budgeted Pakistani movie made so far. As expectations are skyrocketing only the release would tell if the hype was worthy or not.

5.            Superstar

Actors Bilal Ashraf and Mahira Khan will be sharing the screen together for the first time for this upcoming movie. Mahira Khan will be playing the role of an actress and the story will be around the subject of stardom in Pakistan and how two individuals with the same goals approach it in different ways.
