ISLAMABAD: Two individuals were apprehended for poisoning the water of Rawal Dam with the intention of catching fish. The incident came to the attention of authorities after the staff of a contractor, responsible for fishing activities in the dam, reported the incident. As a result of the poisoning, numerous fish, birds of various species, and other aquatic life perished.

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Climate Change has taken a grave interest in the matter and expressed deep concern over the incident. The committee has requested a report from the relevant authorities. Additionally, it strongly condemns any actions that pose harm to the environment, people, and animals. The committee also calls upon individuals to engage in fishing activities through ethical and legal means, emphasizing the need to safeguard the country’s natural resources.

Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Chairperson of the Committee, further urged the authorities to take stringent action against the culprits involved in this severe crime. She emphasized that the individuals responsible must be held accountable and subjected to punishment as prescribed by the law.
