Trudeau’s stance on Islamophobia

By: Asem Mustafa Awan

Islamophobia is unacceptable. Full stop. We need to put an end to this hate and make our communities safer for Canadian Muslims. To help with that, we intend to appoint a Special Representative on combating Islamophobia. Justin Trudeau statement is a breath of fresh air for the ethnic communities particularly Muslims living in Canada.

Islamophobia is a multi-billion dollar hate campaign. A recent report states that many organizations created for human rights and bridging the communities pouring out colossal amount of funds to excommunicate Muslims from the society for their belief and societal norms.
The legislation in the west is in place for rights for every group be it nudist and Lesbian Gay Bisexuals and Transgender community but laws exist and are enacted.

However, it is pertinent to note that Jewish influence with their financial stability cannot be ignored. This is the status the Jewish race holds in the west and after 9/11 World Trade Center incident all guns were turned towards Muslims and a systematic hate campaign was launched to vilify Islam.

The ‘slip of tongue’ from United States President George Walker Bush after 9/11 as start of Crusade War was a comment that was hushed up but it had sent the message across and what followed was a blood bath in many Muslim countries.

The world after 9/11 turned all its hate towards Islam and Muslims and war zones started erupting in different regions with invasions of US in Iraq, Afghanistan followed by proxies in Syria, Iran, Yemen and other countries. This is no secret that Iraq was reduced to nothing but rubble on a false pretext of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).

The Muslim leadership after 9/11 kept quiet and the man emerging from the crisis was none other than incumbent Prime Minister Imran Khan whose speech on the floor of United Nation won the hearts of the international leadership.

Prime Minister views on Islamophobia cleared the air which none in the Muslim world could clear and his voice was given strength by Turkey’s Erdogan and Malaysia’s Mahathir.

The containment of Muslim world with wars in different countries was viewed as hegemonic and expansionist designs of the United States and all suffered in the process with backlash coming to Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran beside others.

This is not all west in one way or the other made careful planning to gauge the response in the Islamic world and this was done in the form of caricatures, desecration of the holy book and dishonoring the Holy Prophet.

Cleric in US tried to burn Quran, France published the sketches, New Zealand had in its fold a hateful extremist who went on a killing spree taking over 50 lives, a Muslim family in Canada taking a stroll on the sidewalk was run over by a trucker all such incident indicate mind conditioning with the passage of time.

With changing times the world leaders are also realizing the truth and are now condemning Islamophobia and credit goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan who made it clear that there will be no compromise on Prophet’s honour.
