Lifestyle these days is way more tiring than before. We are in an era where social media, direct communication, and fast service are the norms. Our society makes us buy so many things to make ourselves improved, but at heart we aren’t satisfied. We are so use to of doing so much everyday that if we don’t have a full adventurous schedule it feels as if something is definitely missing from our life. It’s only because of the pursuit of having an abundant life, but this doesn’t mean we have to have plans every weekend to fill up our time. We get so busy keeping our lives full that we never truly get to focus on being fulfilled.
Being content is tough since our culture feeds our lack of simplicity by advertising products and adventures to try to make us feel discontent without them. Almost at all times we desire far more than what we actually need.
We continue that without realizing that our real need is to get rid of this and get a move on life. So I can clearly say that this overloaded life isn’t a very good idea! But now it’s time to make things easier in our lives by getting rid of the extraneous stuff before it controls us.
When we clutter our lives with stuff, we build up a desire in our hearts for them and they take the place of what we treasure most.
In worldly manners we only learn one thing which is (live for more). Twitter feeds, Instagram posts, and Facebook newsfeeds offer us advice for leading a fulfilled life by telling us the next great thing we should be doing. They promise the secrets to a simple, organized, and satisfied life, but it doesn’t take too long to realize that everything they promote leaves us desire for more.
We should keep it in mind that happiness is not about where you will be in five years or what you will have in terms of material, but where God has you right now. One should take pleasure in what he has rather than desiring for what is not in his destiny. So in essence I can say that your life doesn’t have much to do with stuff you follow in your daily life or a future version of yourselves.
A simple life has a different meaning and a different value for every person. For me, it means getting rid of some of life’s complexities so you can spend more time with people you love and do more of the things you feel satisfied doing. It means getting rid of the clutter, and eliminating all but the essential, so you are left with only that which gives you value. Because to be content doesn’t mean you don’t desire for more, it means you’re thankful for what you have and patient for what’s to come.
