The World Heart Day- 2018

The World Heart Day, as every year, was celebrated on 29 September 2018, across the globe. It is an important day which helps to remind people about the general well-being of the human heart, how to prevent oneself from heart related diseases and make them aware of the severity of the disease, which is one of the leading causes of deaths in the world.

DadaBhoy Institute of Higher Education has always considered its responsibility to help the population at large make healthy and educational way of lifestyle choices. Supporting the World Heart Federation’s objective, DIHE conducted a public awareness session, “’My Heart, Your Heart’”, on 29 September, 2018.

Held at The DadaBhoy Institute of Higher Education Auditorium with the collaboration of one local firm, the Public Awareness Session attracted people from all walks of life.  The program was opened by Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Dean (Faculty of Science), Dadabhoy Institute of Education and Dr. Tipu Sultan, Chairman, Sindh Health Care Commission, presided the session. The session included talks by our cardiac and pulmonology specialists, Prof. Dr. A. Rasheed Khan from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr. K. K. Niazi from Civil Hospital, Prof. Dr. Hakeem Abdul Hannan, Director Research, Hamdard Waqf Laboratories, who spoke on quitting smoking, healthy eating, exercise, managing diabetes if you have diabetes, managing blood pressure, stress management to make your heart happy and healthy.

The informative program ended with a Q&A session with our leading power panel of cardiologists after which they mingled with the audience over a cup of tea. The crowd walked away with the powerful message:  ‘Keep a Healthy Heart’.
