The Paradigm of a Nation State in Retrospect

By: Nauman Illahi

De mémoire Republic Day, 23rd March 1940—to reiterate de facto the Pakistan resolution that:

“No constitutional plan would be workable or acceptable to the Muslims unless geographical contiguous units are demarcated into regions which should be so constituted with such territorial readjustments as may be necessary. That the areas in which the Muslims are numerically in majority as in the North-Western and Eastern zones of India should be grouped to constitute independent states in which the constituent units shall be autonomous and sovereign”.

The resolve for Geographical-Independence, which must be sovereign in the area of its own: the entire Muslim community of then Indo-Pak subcontinent had supported unquestionably.

His Highness, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah struggled to get a sovereign-geographical-share of the then Indo-Pak subcontinent, and successfully had it achieved: Empirically, we became a worthwhile nation but what dammed the preceding governments of materializing the ideology of our founding fathers, was lack of appropriate practice to deal with the national and international points at issue, which the state long suffered on account of the obnoxious influence of non-state actors; And, in the shape of constitutional crises due to accustomed intestinal disagreements among the then coalition political apparatus.

However, politically— it has been the bona fide transaction of business at the hands of accredited state institutions: and, the phenomenon of audacity in the hope for change among common citizenry, that paved the path for Pakistan Tehrik e Insaaf to become able to gain the seat of authority with an absolute majority at the center. Yet, Change is to be materialized, but through the fair and effectuate deliverance out of the Central and respective legislatures of the provinces; providing categorically the body politic with the sufficient liberty and sovereignty—in terms of civil, social, political and economic aspects. Which, as such, shall limit the praxis of abuse of the citizens at the hands of partisans; mainly at the time of elections and thereafter.

As, the world is in the continuous progress, and if the state junta did not go beyond the call of the duty; the country would definitely lay farther behind over the stages of development.

Whereas, at the same time, it would be quite suitable to discuss the accomplished stance of Hon’ble Premier in the Chair—that is, the Khan’s way to deal with the recent war hysteria waged intentionally by the neighbor that lay in the east with the perpetual tendency to distort the regional peace—that significantly earned sufficient acclaim around the globe: and, conveyed internationally an explicit message that the Pakistan’s top brass stands on the same plank: thus, consequentially, after three years of  Indo-Pak consecutive slackness, since 2016, Prime Minister Khan’s such pragmatic approach earned due credits to have successfully paved the way to revitalize the bilateral track-one diplomacy, which in form of a joint statement resulted in the religious-good for the Sikh-community: and, Internationally, such event has earned buoyant satisfaction among those who had already signed investment-MoUs with Pakistan and too, for those who intend to invest in development and growth of the available sectors in Pakistan.

Religiously—for Islam, as a uniting force, has an ability to harness a shared sense of national feeling: and, consequently, this is too an Islam, which is being frequently used otherwise as an instrument at the hands of adversaries of Muslims.

Though, vital is the Scholars’ role, and so is the requirement to deal with such volatile matters with great sagacity and prescience that the religious as well as social accredit-able patrons, should advise their respective adherents to prevent from setting the noxious milieu of protests, and to not to become proponent of an act of any sort or type to take their state into the shambles of uncertainty and distrust, which in turn distorts the state’s image around the globe: amidst which the foreign evil factors could get a chance to materialize their vicious designs to carry out mordant fifth generation war to achieve their wickeder ends; for this new method of waging war so silently and from within result in damming the state of its achieving progress, when peace is a prerequisite premise.

As the sustained unanimity among the religious sects of the society is as much required as it is important among the various political cliques in making of an atmosphere sufficiently conducive for the ruling government to avail to implement and materialize their development measures, thoroughly.

Socially—why the citizens, in the areas that are rural and those that are kept intentionally backward, lagged behind in the social and economic aspects of the society? To answer, it is so because the Meritocracy was long avoided, which resulted in defragmentation, and their social-exclusion from within the society: through undignified exploiting and regrettable provision of the basic needs—to highlight, most importantly the proper allocation of the required infrastructure and the provision of suitable communication and transportation resources to access, nearby urban adherents, for suitable health and education facilities—which are the citizen’s constitutional rights to avail, and which the state must provide.

So is the case with the slackened Judicial System, which should be the now central legislature’s priority to reproduce a statute that shall be implemented—to accelerate its pursuance, to categorically cover the long prevailed iniquity among the masses: and, At the same time when the State’s Apex Court have highly proved its worth, which the courts at provincial and at district level duly need to maintain. But, it is only possible when an ordinary could have its legal endeavor summed-up in due time.

Whereas, Economically—the economic-pitfalls, that is, the hereditary tradition of the previous governments, when larger portion of budget remained unutilized, which could be brought into effective action by launching such enterprises to generate little but lasting revenue: and, most importantly, the lack of capacity of the governments in the past to construct the efficient commerce and trade policies that were neither intrigued with proper follow-up of checks and balances, which invoked increased taxation and elevated inflation rate that broke the backbone of the lower income strata of society and thus making the survival difficult.

Although through the arrangement of security measures so strong that, on one hand, notably eradicated the non-state actors; while, on the other hand, the local precursors that left crime faced insufficient means and resources of their employment, where they could invest, in labor, their physical capacity to earn sufficient income, as so through daily wages, which could be sufficient to satisfy their basic needs of life; mainly the food, the cloth and of the shelter. This is because the so elected-policy-makers offered the halfway measures, not a real solution.

Meanwhile, what is mostly required of ruling PTI-government is the adequate governance of policies with genuine outreach to match aspirations of the Weltschmerz of society, so that each and every stratum of the citizens could easily get benefited.
