Sindhi Culture celebration in Govt girls Schools: New exposure to Girls

By: Nuzair Ahmed Jamro

It is no denying the fact that education is a tool that one can use to change the world; it is equally important for girls as boys. The new appointment of Female Teachers through IBA Sukkur by the Sindh government, which are highly professional and university graduates, is no less than a blessing in disguise for Girl public schools run by Sindh Province. They have given new lifelines to Girls in their career that belongs to poor strata of society. Such highly educated young female teachers, having experience of advanced private schooling, have contributed a lot to the betterment of government Girls’ schools.

The performance of Government Girls Primary school, Qazi Mohalla, Shikarpur, Sindh, is exemplary for education department, Govt of Sindh. It includes the adoption of newly computerized paper patterns, modern methods of conducting exams, and proper attendance besides advancing teaching methodologies and efficacious learning tactics.

Retrospectively, the celebration of the event particularly Sindhi Cultural Day by newly recruited teachers have also paved the way forward for confidence as well as capacity building in girl. History witnessed that girls have been limited to home chores. In rural areas, they have no access to education even the primary education is excluded.

In addition to it, a nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people; the Sindhi Culture day is celebrated with traditional enthusiasm to highlight the centuries-old rich culture of Sindh in girls’ Primary School, Qazi Mohalla. On this occasion, girls are encouraged to wear Ajrak and Sindhi Topi and such a day enable students to recognize their identity as part of nationalism. Not last but least, such industrious and adroit female teachers are indeed a great source of inspiration and keen mentorship. It goes without saying that they are ray of hope for those girls who live below the poverty line.

To sum up, the situation facing the school education department, in Sindh province especially girls’ primary schools calls for extraordinary measures. Even if the situation is bleak; every dark cloud has a silver lining. Retrospectively, it is imperative to recognize that there is no magic bullet or simple answer. It is high time, the Competent authority takes measures and chalk out effective strategies for proving the basic and modern facilitations including policy making on capacity-based enrolment of girls students and prompt salary opening of newly recruited meritorious female teachers, which has been swept under the carpet despite passing of ample months.

It must include the ensuring of advanced training to meet the needs of govt girl’s schools in letter and spirit instead of issuing new advertisements for recruiting teachers for a short span of time that may leave rust on their hearts and soul and get them to lose their tempo of rendering their services with zeal and zest as a profession.

In a nutshell, it is a need of the hour that salary initialization of female teachers in due time turned into actions to witness the alarming growth in literacy rate, already lagging behind the neighboring provinces,  as well as in cultural events to boost nationalism among students with dedications.
