ISLAMABAD: SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) urged Pakistan to focus on its youth towards entrepreneurship for improving livelihoods, expanding economy and promoting jobs.
Jointly organized by the SCCI, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and Plan9, two day boot camp was kicked off for startups, Senior Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik urged on the government to encourage the country’s youth “towards entrepreneurship because unemployed youth is a recipe for disaster,” says a press release issued here.
He said Pakistan has a growing labour force with 1.7 million young people reaching working age each year.
However, four million young people between the ages of 15-24 years are unemployed and this number is set to rise to 8.6 million by 2020.
