ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with partner countries in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
The prime minister participated virtually in the inaugural First High-Level Forum on Global Development Initiative (GDI). Organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), under the theme “Echo the Development Agenda and Call for Global Action,” the forum aimed to promote international development cooperation. The statement from the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the event.
During his address, the prime minister underscored the importance of international development cooperation in establishing a unified global response to socioeconomic development, addressing climate change threats, and fostering new drivers of growth for lasting progress and prosperity. He expressed appreciation for China’s launch of the Global Development Initiative, which seeks to achieve inclusive and sustainable global development goals.
Reiterating Pakistan’s steadfast support for the GDI, the prime minister affirmed the country’s commitment to continued multifaceted cooperation with China, with a focus on swift implementation of GDI projects in Pakistan.
The forum was attended by prominent figures, including Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Director of the General Office of CPC Foreign Affairs Commission; State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang; and Chairman of CIDCA, Luo Zhaohui. Distinguished experts and executives from various countries and international organizations also participated in the event.
