MUPS and Total Football crowned champions of the twin-city Leisure Leagues Championship

ISLAMABAD, 23rd April, 2019: MUPS came out as champions of Islamabad in the Leisure Leagues Intra-City Championship that took place from Friday to Sunday, beating 11 other highly competitive teams of the federal capital. Total Football, on the other hand, secured their berth in the Leisure Leagues National Championship as winners of Rawalpindi.

An initiative of World Group and the Trunkwala family, the Leisure Leagues Intra-City Championship pitted some of the best teams in the city against each other in a thrilling championship spanning three days that culminated in the final round on Sunday.

“Leisure Leagues is entering it’s highly competitive round and it’s our aim to offer teams a platform where they can display their skills and have a chance to compete for the International Socca Federation (ISF ) World Cup in Greece,” said World Group Chairman Mehmood Trunkwala.

Similar statements were echoed by Chief Guest Deputy Mayor of Islamabad Mr. Zeeshan Naqvi, who distributed the glittering trophies and medals among the winners.

“World Group and the Trunkwala family have taken a great initiative in promoting football in Pakistan through Leisure Leagues. It is great to see such competitions being held in Islamabad and my best wishes go out to all the teams and i congratulate the Trunkwala family on the giving Pakistan a chance to compete internationally at the ISF World Cup in Greece,” added the Deputy Mayor.

MUPS and Total Football shall now be representing their cities in the Leisure Leagues National Championship, which shall feature nearly 70 cities from throughout the country.
