On 1st June every year, the world commemorates the Global Day of Parents and pays homage to all the parents and children who owe their family bondage to the unabated spirit to stay together and foster inter-dependency on love and harmony reflecting high family position the parents enjoy in the comity of their trusted and loving children. Indeed, this Day is also observed as the International Day of Children; so the groups celebrate the Day as ‘Two-in-One’, heightening the stature.

(Meanwhile, as solemnized on 29th May, the UN Peace-keepers Day paid tributes to the uniformed women peace-keepers for their fantastic role and performance in all fields of peacekeeping, shoulder-to-shoulder, to the same standards and under the same difficult conditions, with their male counterparts.

(It is an operational imperative and they are NOW on the front lines in the fight against the COVIT-19 pandemic and are fully committed to this ‘war’ with dedication and sacrifices while taking precautionary measures and implementing the Mission mandates, despite numerous constraints and untold miseries. )

Global Day of Parents is a United Nations (UN) observance that is celebrated to honor parents and their commitment to children worldwide. Parents play an important part in shaping one’s life. It was formally proclaimed through a Resolution by the UN General Assembly in 2012.

This day is essential as we honour the most important people in our lives. As the saying goes, God could not be there everywhere; hence he gave us parents. They nurture and protect the child all the time.

This day not only reminds us of the selfless sacrifices our parents made for us, but it also reminds us of our responsibilities towards our parents.

It is equally important for children to take care of their parents when they get old. This is also an opportunity for the child to show love, respect and gratitude towards the parents for everything they have done for them.

When a child enters this world, the child sees the world through the eyes of parents. Everything that the child learns as it grows up is what it picks up from the people it is surrounded by especially the parents and family.

Parents are our legal guardians and protectors. They teach us everything and take care of all our needs, selflessly. They sacrifice so much to give their child a quality life, a happy environment to nurture the talent.

To honour such selfless nature of the parents, we celebrate Global Day of Parents on 1st of June every year. This day was proclaimed the United Nations General Assembly as a celebration since the year 2012 with resolution.

This Day is essential as we honour the most important people in our lives. As the saying goes, God could not be there everywhere; hence he gave us parents. They nurture and protect the child all the time.

The Day not only reminds us of the selfless sacrifices our parents made for us, but it also reminds us of our responsibilities towards our parents.

It is equally important for children to take care of their parents when they get old. This is also an opportunity for the child to show love, respect and gratitude towards the parents for everything they have done for them.

By this, a useful platform is provided to promote responsible parenting and to educate parents on happy parenting, which is an essential aspect of life. When a couple becomes parents, they prepare to bring a new life into this world and do whatever it takes to raise the child well. Parents give up their sleep to make sure the baby has slept well.

The parents understand the child’s words when they cannot speak correctly. They work hard to give him /her everything one needs in life. Parents do everything possible to nurture and protect their child.

At best, we children can do to honour and respect them. Be there for them when they need us. Make them feel wanted and included, and show love and affection to them; there need not be a special day.

The Global Day of Parents creates awareness and educates people on the importance of parenting and also for children to understand the parents sacrifices to make them what they are today.

Love your parents unconditionally and make them feel every day is their day just like the way they made you feel when you were a child.
