Islamophobia: Colour can change but blood stays the same

By: Asem Mustafa Awan

There have been many examples in the west where innocent Muslims and peaceful residents were targeted and they paid the price in the form of their lives. The colour of blood stays the same the only difference was it was coming from a different colour which was drilled with bullet holes and mowed under the truck tyres.

The systematic brain washing by the western media who made pictures depicting Muslims as uncouth, uncivilized brutes with male chauvinistic approach has now surfaced in the form of hate crimes against Muslims who tend to hide their identities under the western attire besides names that are abbreviation of their names.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on many an occasions has raised his voice against the growing Islamophobia and has urged the western countries to take a serious note.

He pointed out if this hate speech and Islam bashing continues the world will have a large scale conflict which will be out of control.
Stopping hate speech and material on the internet is the first step that can curtail the damage and those who are deep in to this should be monitored and profiled.

The technological advancement in combating the crime has enhanced leaps and bounds and the face recognition technology added with biometrics can help in nipping the evil in the bud.

The main contributor to this is hate but intent only which is pushing the world towards new division and with everything readily available there are people who believe what is there is all true.

The devotees from different sects followed their leaders blindly and often at times get carried away. Pakistan not long ago had been a victim of sectarian violence which was in fact a proxy war played by different entities in destabilizing the government which was rightly checked and efforts were made by all the scholars representing different sects in curbing the intensity of the sentiments.
The harmony achieved is not a small fete though efforts have been made to destabilize the peace and when these non-state actors were unsuccessful things are now taking ugly twist which is creating a rift between the provinces. This is the situation at the domestic front while at the international front the New Zealand incident is not forgotten and the most recent one in Canada a few days ago where the whole family was crushed under the wheels of the raging truck.

The perpetrator of the heinous act had no criminal background and had no affiliation to any group. It was purely out of intense hate.
The shooting in Qubec mosque in Canada and discovery of mass grave of children that were taken by the natives on the pretext of education shows a systematic increase in hate over the decades by the individuals who hold position of power and used their position in poisoning the minds.

America’s atrocious acts in Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, Bagram are all exposed. The champions of human rights strand exposed in their lip service which is limitless as that of their unending acts.
