HELP! HELP! HELP! SAVE PAKISTAN FROM HELL

HELP! HELP! HELP! SAVE PAKISTAN FROM HELL
By: Fatima Shabbir

Visualize yourself in a country where is neither clean water to drink nor good food to eat and even where ever you go you just find a bulk of garbage, dirty streets, polluted air etc, we all know that none of us wants to be a part of such a country but actually it’s a bitter reality of our future because that is what we are leaving for our future generation.

Pakistan which is the 6th largest populated country of the world with a total population of 200,813,818, there is a lot consumerism and with it a great waste produced which is around 20 million tons of solid waste generation annually. Karachi which is the largest city of Pakistan generates more than 13,000 tons of garbage every week. Karachi which was once known as the “city of lights” is now called as “city of garbage” because of the inappropriate waste collection. People dumped waste on streets which causes serious disease to the inhabitants of locality, even though not only people but industries are also contributing in making Karachi as Kachrachi.

The chemical waste that is generated by industries are mostly dumped into rivers and sea that contaminate the water which then supplied to the houses that cause severe illness to the citizens sometimes it becomes a matter of life and death, even though according the plastic that is thrown in the water are extremely harmful for the fishes because when they eat it; they die which means it is effecting marine life badly and also according to a report now in Sukkur only 918 Indus Dolphins are alive whereas all other are dead because of contaminate water. Another case of industrial trash deadly effects is that an industry use to dump their chemical waste into a vacant plot in Abidabad where children used to play around that plot in evening one day that trash burst out and children got in contact of that trash due to which their body parts got 60 to 65 % burns mark while one of them died.

Furthermore, the acid rain falls is also a reason of industries negligence on environment as the smoke that the industries creates evaporates in air is then mixed with environment and also inhaled by people, animals and plants which is very poisonous for them.

To conclude, industrial trash is an environmental threat which if not be resolved soon then it will destroy not only life of human beings but also of animals, and plants as according to a report it founds out that around 6 million people die in Pakistan annually only due to drinking poisonous water, and eating toxic foods. Therefore, on a serious note our government and the authorities need to work hard on managing waste, they need to make such strong policies that shows the effective result in waste managing and after the implementation of it they also need to revise and oversee their policies that are those policies are worthy in managing waste in Pakistan because if it not happened earlier than Pakistan will soon change in a valley of garbage where no one can sustain a healthy life.
