GDA stops construction of boundary wall along higher secondary school in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, Dec 6, 2018: Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) has stopped the construction work of boundary wall along the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Khanispour, Abbottabad.

Talking to local media men, the inhabitants showed their concerns over GDA for illegally stopping the construction of boundary wall of GHSS Khanispour. They were of the view that it is a prime responsibility of the government to provide fool-proof security to the 400 students of the school. They said that the GDA is occupying the land of school unlawfully and no government authorities is paying heed towards there. They demanded to the government to issue directions to the GDA to permit the school management for the construction boundary wall adding the stoppage is discriminatory and unlawful.


People of the area are concerned about security of 400 students

Talking to local media men, the inhabitants showed their concerns over GDA for illegally stopping the construction of boundary wall of GHSS Khanispour. They demanded to the government to issue directions to the GDA to permit the school management for the construction boundary wall adding the stoppage is discriminatory and unlawful.

Civil society, educationists and social activists of the area, request anonymity, told the correspondent that the GDA has stopped the construction of boundary wall which was approved by the government after the terror attack at APS Peshawar in 2014. The then provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had formulated the standard operating procedure for establishment of boundary walls along the schools with razor wires and installation of closed circuit television cameras (CCTV).They stated further as district education office Abbottabad ordered the school management for the commencement of works for the construction of wall, the BCA of the GDA had stopped the work on the name of encroachment on GDA town land. He said it is an issue of student studying in open environment, that’s why their lives are in danger and an incident can be happen any time.” They demand to the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take action against the violations of GDA on the name of encroachment. It is requested to Chief Minister KP, Chief Secretary KP, Secretary LGE&RDD and other authorities concerned to take stern action against the GDA and ask them to report in the matter”. Local requested.
