Karachi is a megacity with a rapidly growing population, but there are few trees. Mature trees are frequently felled to make way for roads or multi-story buildings. This phenomenon is not limited to Karachi; green belts are being mercilessly destroyed in other major cities as well. Many housing companies are also reducing the use of green roofs. Furthermore, it is claimed that in many areas, forest areas are being attacked by influential locals. The construction of the Malir Expressway in Karachi will undoubtedly harm the green cover unless the Sindh government, community committees, and local councils all take corrective action at the same time. The significance of trees and green space must be explained.
