Danish Tariq Takes on Family Planning Advocacy in Pakistan as First FP2030 Youth Focal Point

Pakistan’s youth has been making great strides in the realm of family planning, and one such exemplary individual is Mr. Danish Tariq who has served as the first FP2030 Youth Focal Point from Pakistan. Danish Tariq, a dedicated and passionate youth advocate with more than ten years of experience, has been making waves in youth development work in Pakistan. His focus on Meaningful and Inclusive Youth Participation, Informed Decision Making, and Policy Advocacy led him to become the first FP2030 Youth Focal Point from Pakistan. In addition, Danish is also a Governing Board Member at Youth Advocacy Network Pakistan and Coordination Secretary at SAARC Youth Platform. His commitment to creating positive change in his community is also reflected in his work as a Program Officer at Chanan Development Association, Fellow at the Population Reference Bureau and Advisory Committee Member at NextGen RH Community of Practice by Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs and USAID.

During Danish’s tenure, he attended several important meetings, including the Country Engagement Working Group Meetings (CEWG), where he contributed his expertise and insights on family planning mechanisms in Pakistan. Additionally, he also led young people at Youth and CSOs Meetings, demonstrating his leadership skills and ability to engage with different stakeholders. Danish was also instrumental in initiating the Sindh Youth Engagement Mechanism (SYEM) for FP2030, a platform for young people in Sindh province to engage with family planning issues and advocate for their rights. His dedication and commitment to family planning was further recognized when he was invited by the President of Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi, to attend the International Donors Conference on Population Dynamics and Family Planning got held at President House, Islamabad. Throughout his tenure, Danish also spoke at numerous national, regional, and international forums on family planning, including the International Conference on Family Planning held in Pattaya. He also engaged with local communities through radio shows, community interactive theaters, and flood campaigns. His impressive achievements did not go unnoticed, and he was also invited to play his role at Turnaround Pakistan Conference invited by Ministry of Planning Commission and also met with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, H.E. Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Convener SDGs Task Force, H.E. Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam to discuss the advocacy work and the importance of investing in youth-led initiatives.

Overall, Danish’s efforts have been a source of inspiration for many young people in Pakistan, and his contributions have helped to create a more inclusive and effective family planning landscape in the country. Throughout his tenure as FP2030 Youth Focal Point, Danish attended important meetings, led Youth and CSOs Meetings, and helped initiate the Sindh Youth Mechanism for FP2030. He was also invited by the President of Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi, to attend the International Donors Conference on Population Dynamics and Family Planning. Danish’s advocacy work extends beyond formal meetings and events, as he has also engaged with local communities through radio shows, community interactive theaters, flood campaigns, and speaking at international youth day events.
