ISLAMABAD: To facilitate the citizens, Capital Development Authority (CDA), taking a major decision has removed the requirement of getting No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the building control section (BCS) department for the transfer of property among family members.

A notification in this regard will be issued soon.

A director of CDA while talking to journalist Kashif of DAWN stated that the step is taken for the ease of citizens especially for old parents who intend to transfer their property among their children. Before this they had to go through the lengthy process of getting a NOC,” he added. Now, the transferee just has to provide an affidavit only and in case of any violations, he would be responsible for removing the same within three months.

The decision was taken during a board meeting headed by Chairman Mohammad Usman Younis.

The CDA board decided that other than family transfers, the NOC of BCS is mandatory, but its validity has been extended from three months to one year.

Atta-ur-Rehman Abbasi, a real estate consultant while talking to The Dayspring welcomed the decision and said that this move will not only facilitate families’ intenting to transfer properties among their family member(s) but real estate agents will also be benefited as most of the time citizens had to involve real estate agents for family transfers because of complicated processes within CDA.

He said that getting the property transfer from CDA is a cumbersome step as it requires several NOCs such as one issued by BCS, one from revenue and one from the land directorate. But, this will provide ease to citizens. He added that steps should also be taken by the competent authority to ease the process for citizens who want to sell property outside their families.
