Youth training camp attracts adventure tourism in Swat

PESHAWAR: To attract youth towards adventure tourism a 12-day long youth training camp is happening at different scenic resorts in Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology Museums and Youth Affairs Department of KP in collaboration with Pakistan primitive survival workshop organizing a 12-day training camp for the youth to learn skills as to how to survive in harsh and difficult situations being taught by instructors of the National Geographic and Discovery Channel, says a press release.

Eminent experts including Chad Keel of the Discovery Channel, Reza Eric Allah Bakhshi of the National Geographic Channel, Kody Sherwood of the Oxygen Channel and national athlete Samar Khan are imparting training to the youth.

The youth were being imparted training and skills about the use of essential items and making a fire in a difficult and tough situation, water filtration, establishing a shelter, getting out of challenging conditions and others at the survival camp.

According to the programme, the survival camps were being organised at different scenic resorts in Swat from December 1-12 where the expert trainers imparted training and skills to the youth as to how to survive during adventure tourism activities. The training is scheduled to conclude today (Saturday). The youth participating in the training said they are thoroughly enjoying it and it will help them a long way in future tourism. Committee to monitor CPEC projects

Federal government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak to monitor ongoing projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in KP.

The committee would comprise federal ministers Ali Amin Gandapur, Faisal Vawda, Murad Saeed, MNA Yaqoob Sheikh, KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, KP Additional Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan and secretaries of the ministries concerned, says a press release.

The committee would monitor projects of Chasma Right Bank Canal, Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway, Chakdara-Chitral Road and ensure their early completion.

The committee would submit its report to National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. The decision to constitute steering committee was taken in a recent meeting between National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
