Sindhi Cultural Day is celebrated all over Sindh , and amongst the Sindhi diaspora around the world. Its officially celebrated in Pakistan on the 1st Sunday of December every year .
This event is also known as ‘Aekta jo ddihaarro’.
The day is widely celebrated with traditional enthusiasm to spotlight the centuries-old rich culture of Sindh .
The culture and heritage day was celebrated for the first time on December 6, 2009 (as the Sindhi Topi Day). Ever since, Sindhis all over world started celebrating First Sunday of December each year as Sindhi Cultural Day.
On this occasion, people wear ajarak and Sindhi topi. Musical programmes and rallies are held in many cities to mark the day with zeal.Major hallmarks of cities and towns are decorated with Sindhi Ajrak to highlight the cultural values of Sindh. The people across sindh exchange gifts of Ajrak and Topi at various ceremonies.
Children and women are dressed up in Ajrak, assembling at the grand gathering, where famous Sindhi singers sing Sindhi songs, which depicts love and progress of Sindh. The musical performances of the artists compel the participants to dance on Sindhi tunes and ‘Jeay Sindh Jeay-Sindh Wara Jean’.
All Political, social and religious organisations of Sindh, besides the Sindh culture department and administrations of various schools, colleges and universities, organize variety of events including seminars, debates, folk music programmes, drama and theatrics performances, tableau and literary sittings to mark this annual festivity. Sindhi culture, history and heritage are highlighted at the events.
Everyone loves their language and culture. And every culture deserves respect. Rich cultures emerges as the result of accumulated wisdom of a peoples over centuries.
Talking about Sindh and it’s importance, it is a southern region in pakistan. The culture of Sindh has it’s roots in the in the Indus valley civilization,Sindh has the oldest civilization of Moen Jo Daro (5000 years old) in the world.
Sindh is known as land of Latif the great saint of South Asia and some times Babul_Islam.
Sufism and Sufi music is the spirit of sindhi culture. Abida Praveen the sindhi singer is famous as Queen Of Sufi Music . Sindh is also known as Land of Saints
Like Shah Abdul Latif Bithai, sachal sarmast,shah Abdul latif bhatti, they all belong to Sindhi.
Sindh is blessed with natural and man made lakes and water lands which has increased the beauty of Sindh.These lakes are the main source of water supply.
Sindhi cuisine has a variety of items. Sindhi cuisine contains mostly locally grown vegetables, fruits and grains.
“sindhi biryani”, Pallah machi ( hilsa) are the speciality of sindhi cuisine.
Sindh has very remarkable and heart touching culture in Pakistan and all over the world.
To celebrate this richness of the province, sindhi cultural day is celebrated wholeheartedly by the Sindhi people on the Sindhi cultural day.
