ISLAMABAD: A delegation of youth leaders met with the Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan. Led by Qaiser Nawab, a prominent global youth advocate, the delegation underscored the imperative role of youth-driven climate action in shaping a sustainable future.

Nawab emphasized that the surge of youth engagement in climate advocacy marks not just a passing moment but the dawn of an enduring movement. Despite the daunting challenges facing Pakistan and the planet at large, a new generation emerges – resolute, informed, and united.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to brief Chairman PMYP about the forthcoming Local Conference on Youth (LCOY) Pakistan, to be organized under the auspices of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). LCOY Pakistan aims to convene passionate young minds from across the nation to collectively confront the pressing challenges posed by climate change.

Maryam Akhtar highlighted LCOY’s transformative reach, fostering awareness and fostering crucial dialogues. She envisioned enriched discussions bridging regional disparities and amplifying voices from marginalized communities, fostering accelerated progress.

Sher Shah Bangash elaborated on the conference’s core theme of empowering youth to spearhead climate action and cultivate a sustainable future. Fahad Shahbaz, a Commonwealth youth leader, stressed the urgency of youth engagement, grounded in firsthand experiences of environmental upheaval. Qamar emphasized the pivotal role of grassroots movements and climate justice in driving bespoke solutions.

Chairman Rana, expressing his unwavering support, hailed local youth conferences as crucibles of potential-to-impact transformation. He lauded the youth for not just participating but catalyzing progress, shaping a brighter path for Pakistan’s future.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Rana emphasized that empowered and unified youth are not merely leaders of tomorrow but vanguards of today. A group photo captured the spirit of collaboration and determination, with youth leaders pledging unwavering support for a prosperous Pakistan.
