NORWAY: The Pakistan Street Child Football team dominated their first match of the World Youth Football Cup ‘Norway Cup,’ defeating Norwegian club Frigg Oslo FK with a remarkable scoreline of 11-1. The match, held on Sunday, showcased the immense potential of the Pakistani squad as they left their opponents in awe.
Leading the charge for the Pakistan Street Child Football team was Abid Ali, who proved to be the star scorer, netting an impressive four goals. Saud Ahmed and Faisal Ahmad also showcased their talent, each contributing two goals to the team’s resounding victory. Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Adeel, and Sahil Gull each added one goal, further solidifying Pakistan’s dominance on the field. The lone goal for Norwegian club Frigg Oslo FK was struck by Scott McNol.
Looking ahead, the Pakistan squad is gearing up for their second match, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, and a third match scheduled for August 1. With their remarkable performance in the opening game, the team’s supporters are brimming with anticipation for more outstanding displays in the upcoming matches.
Rehan Tahir, Project Head of the ‘Maidaan Project‘ that made the Street Child Football Team to Norway, expressed his delight at their participation in the Norway Cup 2023, marking the team’s fourth appearance in the prestigious tournament. He emphasized that this event provides a significant platform for the young players to exercise their rights to identity and play on a global level. For the street kids involved, the opportunity to play in Europe at such a young age has sparked excitement and boosted their confidence. The Pakistan Street Child Football team boasts a talented lineup, with players like Tofail Shinwari, Faisal, Shamir Ali, Saud leading the forward line, while Abdul Wahab, Muhammad Ali, Ali Asif, and Ahmed Raza bolster the midfield. In defense, Muhammad Adeel, Abid Ali, Obaidullah, and Asad Nasir showcase their prowess, while Abdullah and Sahil stand strong as goalkeepers.
Notably, the Pakistan Street Child Football Team has a history of excellence, having secured the runner-up position in the Street Child Football World Cup held in Qatar. Additionally, they achieved a commendable second position in Norway Cup 2015 and a third position in Norway Cup 2016, further cementing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.
