Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that transparency and merit will serve as the guiding principles in selecting recipients for the laptop scheme. In a tweet, the prime minister expressed his delight at the nationwide launch of the Prime Minister’s laptop scheme, which marks the continuation of the remarkable journey initiated by the PML-N government in Punjab under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
He stated, “There is nothing that brings me greater joy than contributing to the empowerment of our youth and students, who hold the future of our nation in their hands.” The prime minister further highlighted the fascinating journey of how laptops have assisted students in their studies, enabled them to become entrepreneurs, and pursue fulfilling careers over the past decade.
Undoubtedly, the laptop scheme has been a transformative initiative, resulting in remarkable success stories. Under the current scheme, 100,000 laptops will be distributed among students across Pakistan. Just a day ago, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the laptop scheme for the youth, which had been one of the flagship programs of the previous PML-N government.
During a ceremony held to distribute laptops to students from various universities, the prime minister announced that billions of rupees have been allocated in the current fiscal year’s budget to distribute one hundred thousand laptops on merit to deserving young individuals. The commitment to transparency and merit-based selection ensures that the laptops will be awarded to those who truly deserve them, promoting equal opportunities and empowering the youth of Pakistan.
