Peshawar, 6th January, 2019: A 15 member Youth Commission has been announced by Sports and Youth Affairs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The commission will assist the KP’s ministry of Youth Affairs in devising policies and monitor youth development initiatives. Commission comprises of 15 members from different walks of life including media and sports, will be headed by Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A notification has been issued in this regard by the Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs department of KP Province. The 15 member commission includes MNA Arbab Sher Ali Khan, MPA Dr. Aasia, DG Sports KP Junaid Khan, Director of the editorial Board of The Dayspring Mr. Ahsan Hamid Durrani, Governing Board Member of Youth Advocacy Network Fahad Riaz, Nariman Bisma, Zainab Azmat, Nida Khan, Samina Naz, Hussain Shaheed, Fayyaz (Media), Miraj Ul Islam (Religious scholar) , Kabeer Khan (Cricketer), Zeeshan Perviez and Hanyaa.
Director Ediroal Board The Dayspring Mr. Ahsan Hamid Durrani thanked the KP Government for the including youngsters in the commission. “ it shows the commitment of PTI’s Government towards youth development” said Durrani. It was for the first time that Youth is acknowledged and given space to work at policy level, he added.
Governing Board Member of Youth Advocacy Network Fahad Riaz also appreciated the initiative and said without involving major stakeholders it would have been difficult of the Government to understand the on ground situation and need of the youth, this step will definitely add value for the betterment of Youth.
Following the lines of KP’s Youth Policy 2016, the commission will give vision and provide a road map for the empowerment of Youth in their social, economic and political lives. Providing support for the private public partnership, assisting the Government in fund raising for youth development projects, maintaining transparency and ethical standards, and reviewing annual report on the status of Youth of KP will be the core responsibilities of the commission.
