ISLAMABAD: Gathering more than 150 youth leaders across Pakistan, 12th National Youth Peace Festival (NYPF’12) concludes in Islamabad. The flagship event of Chanan Development Association aimed at discussing issues around Democracy, Climate Action and Peace and to come up with youth driven recommendations for the policy makers to act.

The inaugural session of the festival was graced by Special Assistance to PM on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Convener SDGs Romina Khurshid Alam whereas Member National Assembly of Pakistan Syed Ali Musa Gillani concluded the event, members of civil society, youth activists including members of transgender community and media persons. The event included educational visit of the conference delegation to National Assembly of Pakistan, panel discussions and recreational trip of the capital city.

Special Assistant to PM on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja in her address, organised by Parliamentary SDGs Secretariat, remarked that youth is not the future but inevitably the present of Pakistan. She said that it is necessary that our people must read the Constitution of Pakistan so they know their rights that are guaranteed to each individual in our country.

Convener SDGs Romin said that #Democracy & Parliament belongs to the nation. We are here because of people & for the people. She added that it is just Constitution that imparts equal rights to all citizens of this country. We all need to take each other & this country together for progress using SDGs forum which is totally apolitical & open for all.

Executive Director Chanan Development Association, Shahzad Khan while speaking to the The Dayspring said that youth of Pakistan should understand their constitutional rights and raise voices to get their due rights. Educated youth has already understood the true essence of democracy and are heading in the right direction, he added. He also thanked Federal government, PM Youth office, SDGs Secretariat and Young Parliamentary Forum for collaborating with Chanan Development Association (CDA) to make the event successful.
